Synergy of BUMN Foundation and PPKMI: Strengthening Mental Health and Maternal and Child Health

Jakarta, March 24, 2025 – The BUMN Foundation held an audience with the Indonesian Public Health Promoter and Educator Association (PPKMI) at the PPKMI office, South Jakarta. This meeting aims to strengthen synergy in mental health and maternal and child health programs run by the BUMN Foundation.
The audience was attended by the Chairperson of PPKMI, Dr. Sarah Handayani, SKM, M.Kes, along with the PPKMI team, as well as the ranks of the BUMN Foundation. In this meeting, various opportunities for cooperation were discussed that could strengthen the implementation of the BUMN Foundation program, especially in the field of adolescent mental health and increasing the capacity of health cadres in the community.
One important aspect of this hearing is the plan for developing guidelines and implementing the program. Soul Listening Zone (ZMJ) in schools. This program aims to create an environment that supports adolescent mental health through screening, education, and the establishment of an effective mentoring system. In the discussion, PPKMI expressed its support for expanding the reach of this program by involving related ministries, including the Ministry of Education and Culture, so that the implementation of the program can be more sustainable. In addition, changes in mental health screening instruments carried out by the Ministry of Health are also a major concern, so adjustments are needed in the assessment methods used in the ZMJ program.
In addition to focusing on adolescent mental health, this meeting also opens up opportunities for collaboration in programs. Ruang Tumbuh initiated by the BUMN Foundation. As an organization that has expertise in increasing the capacity of health promotion workers, PPKMI can play a role in strengthening the training of Posyandu cadres and communities in providing more effective health services. In the discussion, PPKMI also provided input on the guidelines that have been prepared by the BUMN Foundation to be more in line with the national standards that have been implemented by the Ministry of Health.
As a follow-up to this meeting, the BUMN Foundation and PPKMI agreed to hold further discussions in the form of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) after the 2025 Eid al-Fitr holiday. This FGD will involve various stakeholders to align joint actions and develop a more effective program implementation strategy. In addition, the BUMN Foundation also plans to compile a research-based guidebook that can be a reference in implementing mental health and maternal and child health programs.
The collaboration between the BUMN Foundation and PPKMI is a real step in creating sustainable solutions for public health, especially in facing the challenges of adolescent mental health and improving Posyandu services. With strong synergy between various parties, it is hoped that these programs can provide a broader and more sustainable positive impact on the people of Indonesia.
