Jakarta, June 24, 2025 — The BUMN Foundation also attended the Empowering Change: Financing Indonesia's Green and Blue Economy forum, part of the Unlocking Capital for Sustainability 2025 series. This forum is an important stage that brings together public sector actors, private sector actors, and innovation communities to discuss strategies to accelerate financing for the transition to a sustainable green and blue economy.

With financing needs exceeding US$1T4T500 billion to achieve Indonesia's net zero target by 2060, the forum emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration, domestic capital mobilization, and strengthening the innovation ecosystem that is able to address the challenges of the climate crisis and socio-economic vulnerabilities.

Various strategic approaches are presented in three main sessions, starting from the use of green bonds And blended finance, the potential of the blue economy through marine conservation and sustainable fisheries practices, to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as an accelerator of the climate transition. The forum also featured impactful innovators who demonstrated how local solutions can scale globally when supported by an inclusive financing ecosystem.

The BUMN Foundation believes that the transition to a fair and sustainable blue economy requires not only policy and financing support, but also the empowerment of communities closest to the sea—especially coastal women who have long been the guardians of the ecosystem and drivers of the family economy.

As a form of commitment, the BUMN Foundation presents a program Maritime Women, an initiative that encourages women's active role in maintaining marine sustainability through training, business strengthening, and increasing blue ecosystem literacy. The hope is that more coastal women will be economically empowered while also becoming the vanguard in maintaining Indonesia's marine wealth. Because protecting the sea means protecting the future.
