Initiating Collaboration for Asia's Health System Transformation: BUMN Foundation Attends AVPN Roundtable 2025

Jakarta, April 30, 2025 – Amidst increasingly complex public health challenges, cross-sector collaboration is key. This is the main spirit of the forum Transforming Health Systems in Asia Roundtable held by the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). The BUMN Foundation, through its Chief of Program and Operations, Maya Lestari, was present at the forum as part of its commitment to building an inclusive and sustainable health ecosystem.
This forum brings together stakeholders from the philanthropic and private sectors in an open and strategic discussion atmosphere. The focus is not only on sharing good practices, but exploring opportunities for real partnerships in addressing health challenges in the Asian region. Starting from community nutrition issues, maternal and child health services, to the importance of community-based approaches in increasing access to health.
One of the key moments in the discussion was Kojo Lokko's presentation from The Challenge Initiative (TCI)—a data-driven initiative from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health—has successfully reached millions of families with affordable, gender-responsive family planning services. The partnership model that TCI has built with local governments shows how innovation can be scaled up through cross-sectoral actor synergy.
The BUMN Foundation uses this forum to expand its network and explore new forms of collaboration, especially in developing programs such as Ruang Tumbuh And Mendengar Jiwa, which focuses on stunting prevention and improving adolescent mental health. Meeting directly with representatives from MSD, Tanoto Foundation, Kitabisa, Schneider Electric, and Instellar Indonesia, was a valuable opportunity to discuss shared agendas and explore impactful collaborations.
For the BUMN Foundation, participation in the AVPN Roundtable is not just about being present, but also being actively involved in encouraging a collaborative ecosystem that is able to address health challenges holistically—data-based, community-oriented, and sustainable.
